Description

The "Battle of Ganja" mural depicts the 1826 Iran-Russia war between Abbas Mirza and Ivan Paskevich, where Iran was defeated and forced to retreat from the Aras River. This wall painting, measuring approximately 9.3 by 4.4 meters, highlights the figures' proportions for emphasis and includes key individuals and locations in several slides. Originally housed in the residence of a Qajar prince in Qom, it was later transferred piece by piece to the Islamic Museum of Ancient Iran in Tehran. Unfortunately, due to restoration errors, a glossy varnish was applied, causing significant issues with lighting and display. Through a practical project led by students of Dr. Milani in the Museum Lighting course at Iran Light Academy, the mural's presentation was greatly improved and made accessible to the public.
