Minel Cafe, located on Kowsar Boulevard in Mashhad, was designed to maximize spatial diversity within a limited area while stimulating customer’s sensory perception. Inspired by the cafe name, meaning pearl in the sky, the design drew from the aurora lights (northern light) and the celestial dome, with a concept of a pearl suspended in the sky. The facades existing arch extended into the interior, creating a cohesive arched space. Inside, the design features intersecting forms symbolizing the dome of the sky, with the longitudinal axis dividing the space into a customer service area and a waiting area, distinguished by warm and cool color palettes. Lighting and a video projector were used to transform the visual experience, allowing dynamic displays that can change based on occasions or customer preferences. This approach enhances the small space with diverse, captivating visuals and a unique sensory atmosphere.
‘This can’t be done’ led us to take on tasks ourselves and accomplish what seemed impossible.”
