KEWAN reinterprets low-level dining as a contemporary design concept, inspired by the traditional Iranian and Eastern practice of gathering around a Sofreh. Rather than nostalgia, the project focuses on calmness, simplicity, and spatial connection. The design is inspired by the cosmic symbolism of Keyvan (Saturn), representing balance and order, and combines cultural geometry with grounded ergonomics. The chair is formed through geometric Rasmibandi logic and transformed into a folded three-dimensional human-scale volume. The body is made of 3 mm anodized aluminum sheet with bending and TIG welding, featuring rounded edges for comfort. The seat uses HR foam upholstered with hand-embroidered Balochi textile and detachable Velcro fixation for easy maintenance. KEWAN aims to redefine dining furniture by integrating cultural heritage, structural geometry, and human-centered low seating ergonomics into a single design system.
