Description

The chair is formed from a transparent double-layered polycarbonate shell containing paraffin microcapsules and thermochromic pigments within its inner cavity. When the body comes into contact with the surface, heat gradually goes through the layers. At a specific temperature, the paraffin begins to melt, activating the hidden pigments and revealing patterns inspired by Persian carpet motifs across the chair's surface. As the surface slowly cools down, the paraffin solidifies once again and the patterns gradually fade away, allowing the chair to return to its original transparent state. This project explores the transformation of an everyday object into a responsive and almost living presence.Alongside its emotional and interactive qualities, the use of paraffin as a phase-change material contributes to subtle body temperature regulation by absorbing part of body's excess heat. This creates a small yet meaningful approach toward sustainability and energy-conscious furniture design.
