Description

Roshan /rowshan/ in Persian means lit, bright and luminous. The root of the word is similar to Roxana in Greek and Rossana in Italian. Roshan is a portable lamp, inspired by muqarnas, an ornament which had been widely used in Iranian architecture. A muqarnas unit of Nasir Al-Mulk mosque was the origin of the lamp form. In fact, Roshan is an effort to make a contemporary interpretation of the muqarnas unit. Also, the lamp colors are derived from the color palette of the mosque. It is a table lamp, but can also be used as a wall lamp or a floor lamp with the help of a metal rod. There are four magnets on the back cover of the lamp which allows users to change and adjust the direction of light horizontally or vertically. By touching the front face, it will easily be turned on and off. It has a battery in the base of the lamp which can be recharged by using a simple, geometric charger.
