Description

Design Elements: Sabaah is characterized by its restrained colour palette, featuring a deliberate use of only three colours. The carpet showcases an array of motifs, from animals and houses to intricate patterns that evoke both rural life and contemporary design elements. The use of animals harks back to the patterns found in ancient pottery. Material and Technique: Sabaah is a testament to the dedication and skill of Iranian artisans. Crafted from hand-spun wool, this labour-intensive process harks back to the traditional practices of old village women. The slow and meticulous creation of the wool speaks to the rich history it carries, while the precision required for spinning underscores the mastery of these artisans. Texture: The weaving technique of this carpet is consistent with that of Gabbeh which is an art in Fars, Iran. Iranian Gabbehs are crafted in diverse patterns, including one featuring a fine texture. Similarly, this carpet is woven using the same method.
